LUCIUS:
How is he?

JO:
He’s resting now. The doctor needed to operate to stop the bleeding, but he thinks that, provided no infection sets in, he should be all right. He did say that it was a good thing we got him here when we did. Another hour and it would have been too late.

LUCIUS:
I can’t believe I did what I did, not thinkin’ straight. [Sheriff enter.]

SHERIFF:
Evenin’, Mrs. Bhaer.

JO:
Sheriff Berkley.

SHERIFF:
I heard someone was brought here with a gunshot wound.

JO:
Yes, Nick Riley, my caretaker.

SHERIFF:
What happened? Who shot him?

LUCIUS:
I did.

JO:
It was an accident. He thought Nick was a prowler. He was just protecting his home.

Hello LM Fans,

I found several defects in the story of "Blame." However, there are a couple of parts that I really liked.

1. What did you think of the above dialogue? Did you feel that Jo was easy on Lucius or about right?

2. Can you pick out the defects of the story? I can think of at least 3.

3. What were your favorite scenes?

I will come back later & make my comments after you are finished.

Thanks,

I like this episode! Its a good thing that I watched it just last week.
You get to see Jo show how much she cares about Nick and how much he cares about her.
Dan and Franz become equals and friends.
A man humbles himself and gets to see his daughter again after so many years.
There are so many things going on in this episode. I guess that's why I like it. My fav. episodes are always the ones other fans don't care for. Or other fans like the ones I don't. For example, I don't care for the fan favorites "Philanthropy" or "Stepping Out". Big Grin

I didn't care all that much for this episode. It was about this time that I noticed that someone has a near death experience in almost every episode. This one especially seemed very fake. There were actually two near death experiences in this one if you count Jo. I did like the concept of Jo helping out Lucious, but some other things just seemed so far fetched.

I have to say overall I did like this episode because we saw the relationship between Nick and Jo build a little more. My favorite scenes take place in the cabin between Jo and Nick for the reasons I already stated. As for the scene that you mentioned Margot I didn't think it was Jo's place to forgive Lucius for shooting Nick. Although I'm sure Nick would have I think he should have been the one to tell him. Here's a couple of things that I thought were as you call them defects of the epiosde. Nick never had a discussion with Franz about what needed to be done to secure the house, he spoke to Dan instead. Dan's character became overbearing at times in the episode. When Rob was missing no one looked in the loft until Dan and Franz were having their discussion. Dan had just seen Rob in the loft that morning reading, why wouldn't that be one of the first places to check.

1. What did you think of the above dialogue? Did you feel that Jo was easy on Lucius or about right?

I think Jo realized that Lucius was a very troubled man who didn't think clearly because of his past. As a result, she gave him the benefit of the doubt and extended grace to him. I thought what she did was very kind and loving, as she could have encouraged Nick to press charges instead.

2. Can you pick out the defects of the story? I can think of at least 3.

If there was a major blizzard going on, then how did Lucius sit outside in it to carve that bear for Jo?

Also, if Nick had lost that much blood (he was close to dying from what Dr. Pierce said), then how on earth could he stand up and walk with Jo, even if he was leaning on her (while she had a twisted ankle).

Speaking of the twisted ankle, how was Jo standing around on it at Dr. Pierce's office when the sheriff came in to talk about the shooting, and how did she manage to hurry over to Rob at the very end?

3. What were your favorite scenes?
I really enjoyed the scene where Jo thanked Nick for coming after her. I also like it when she is pleading with Lucius for Nick's life "...and you are sentencing a good man to death." She said that line with such passion - you could tell there that her feelings for Nick have grown a lot.

Well, about Jo's ankle, I think it depends on how badly she hurt it. I've hurt my ankle several times but, most of the time, the pain goes away by the next day. It was never really said out loud that Jo had sprained her ankle. Jo could also hide her pain well. At the end, if you watch it closely, you can see that she is slightly limping.

I think your right about Nick. If he was so bad off, why is he walking or why isn't he unconscious?
Maybe Lucius was in a cubby hole somewhere to protect him against the snow. Who knows? lol. But all in all, I still really like this episode despite some of its faults. Smile

Hi Ya All! Shocked

LM Fan, Dorothy L, ...very good points.
LM Fan: This wasn't one of my favorite episodes either...but, there were parts that I liked!

Ambird: It's probably true about the ankle thingie!Lips SealedEmbarrassed

I just wanted to comment quickly about Nick's loss of blood and where Lucius could have made the bear. I would assume that Lucius had a barn for his animals and he could have stayed in the barn to carve the bear. As far as Nick's loss of blood goes, yes he did loose a lot before the trip into town but I would think he would have lost even more on the way to the doctor. I'm sure Jo and Lucius would have put him in a wagon to take him into town. The ride would have been rough in the best of conditions and I think that could have also caused even more blood loss.

Just thought I'd add my two cents.

and Nick's horse kinda, well, got left out in the middle of the snowstorm... Smile
